KUUMBA is the sixth principle of Kwaanza - a celebration of African American cultural heritage.  Loosely defined, KUUMBA means to always do as much as we can, how we can, to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

The Kuumba Project Garden Team will consist of residents and community stakeholders.  Together, we will transform a series of contiguous vacant lots that have been the site of chronic illegal dumping for years.  Now is the time

    The garden lots are located at 403-433 East 21 1/2 Street (including block and lot 3814/077).  All city-owned lots are community managed open space via an adopt-a-lot agreement.  The garden team has permission to use the privately-owned lots.
